The Book of Mormon carries with it a powerful promise--that one will get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book. That’s a bold statement. But I’ve read it again and again and experienced it myself. This book is not just history; it’s another witness of Jesus Christ. If you desire to draw closer to Jesus Christ, I invite you to find out what I mean. Read for yourself the testimonies of Jesus Christ found therein. Start with the account of Jesus Christ personally ministering to those in the American continent after his resurrection and ascension to heaven (3 Nephi 11-27). Then start again from the beginning and learn how Jesus Christ was involved in the lives of thousands of people throughout history, and see how He invites us in our day to come unto Him through the principles taught therein. While studying it, ask yourself, and more importantly, ask God to confirm to you the truth of its message. He has promised that He will answer every sincere seeker. The invitation is simple, but the outcome is life-altering: open its pages, let it speak, and you’ll find God nearer than you thought possible.
